Water levels are extremely low, so much so that Bradwell Bay is nearly dry except for puddles and mud. Expect the same between Jewel and Vilas.
Maintenance has started in the Apalachicola National Forest. Mike Tucker reports that Vilas Camp is currently not safe to use as a large tree there died and is dropping branches. He suggests continuing on to Vilas trailhead to seek a flat place to camp in the pines adjoining it.
If you plan to walk in and camp at Camel Lake, find the camp host as soon as you arrive, since the campground has switched to an online reservations system. People driving in to camp must pre-reserve online.
