Trail crews worked to remove blowdowns from Hoffman’s Crossing at Rice Creek and there is a great deal of damage to the boardwalk, but it is now passable. Iron Bridge Shelter is officially closed since a tree clipped a corner of it and took out the porch. You can still camp nearby.
The Office of Greenways and Trails is paving the Palatka-Lake Butler Trail east towards Palatka, which means it will be closed when construction equipment is on it, likely through next fall. Look for signage outlining an alternate route.
Trail maintainers are working their way up the unpaved Palatka-Lake Butler Trail section between Keystone Heights and the New River, clearing a huge number of downed trees. The Osceola National Forest is wet, but that’s normal. Expect blowdowns throughout this region.
